This week, we caught up with one of our biggest stores – Jonzara. They have 2 stores based in Northern Ireland, one in Newtownards, and a more recently opened one in Lisburn. The store has a beautiful, contemporary feel to it and there is always a real buzz when you visit. Last week, they were getting the store ready for Christmas and we think it looks amazing! Take a read below on what life is like in their world…
Can you tell us a bit about your shop? How did it start and where did you come up with the name?
We are a family owned business and the name is a play on my brother and my names, Jonathan and Sarah. The name was created by our mum Heather who was the driving force behind our first store, and together all three of us manage the business. I primarily work in the Lisburn store which is based on the main shopping street in the city centre.
How long have you been open for?
Our Newtownards store will soon celebrate 10 years in business, and our Lisburn store was opened in March 2017.
Now tell us something about you? What do you do outside life in the shop when you get a chance to wind down after the busy trade days?
As a business owner it can be hard to switch off, but I do enjoy cycling and catching up with friends over a nice dinner.
What is the best thing about your town? Any tips for people visiting there?
Lisburn is a thriving city, it has some fantastic independent shops as well as the big stores. The city is famous for its linen industry and has a dedicated museum, which is a must see for anyone interested in the history of linen. There is also a brilliant arts centre that people travel from all over the country to visit and of there a few highly acclaimed restaurants in the area too.
What is your favourite item from the current Emreco collection?
That’s a tricky one as I think this collection is the best yet! I love the combination of colours and the cashmere blends are just gorgeous, but if I had to choose only one item it would have to be the red and black poncho. I think it’s very striking and adds glamour to a plain outfit. I wear mine over a simple polo neck and skinny jeans.
